Dr Carey was invited to present at the IUGA Barcelona 2025 Surgical Masterclass plenary session. The topic was “Abdominal Native Tissue Repair Options for POP and SUI”. His presentation showcased three minimally invasive abdominal approaches to to treat prolapse and stress incontinence. First up, Dr Carey demonstrated a robot-assisted sacral colpopexy procedure using autologous fascia lata and the fascia lata harvesting technique developed by Dr Carey. This is mesh-free surgery provides optimal support for women with prolapse. The second demonstration was a laparoscopic mesh free suspension of the uterus and upper vaginal in a young woman with prolapse. The third surgery demonstrated by Dr Carey was a robot-assisted Burch colposuspension to treat stress incontinence.
